The Hydraulics' and Coastal Engineering laboratory consist of :-

Wave Basin:

A model basin, 56 x 37 x 0.8 m is available for three-dimensional model studies. The basin is capable of generating irregular waves of a specified wave spectrum. The basin includes a water circulation system to generate any combination of waves and currents in different directions. Hot water discharges can also be simulated in the basin. The basin is spanned by a crane for easy access to any location in the basin. Frames carrying multiple cameras with a remote control facility are mounted above the model basin.

Wave Flumes:

Two flumes available for two-dimensional model studies. The first is a concrete flume 40 m long with a 2.5 x 2 m cross section. The second is a glass re-circulating flume 60 m long with a 0.6 x 1.2 m cross section that can generate waves and currents. The flumes are capable of generating irregular waves of a specified wave spectrum
